Honor Code Statement

At Pilares de Esperanza we strive to be honest, kind, worthy of trust, and within our ability to do so, we seek to be of service to all people. We are powerful, strong, talented, and intelligent individuals who work together to bring about a more harmonious world and society.

As a matter of personal commitment, students, faculty, and staff of Pilares de Esperanza are expected to demonstrate in daily living on and off campus those moral virtues encompassed in the teachings of many great and respected individuals throughout the history of mankind. The moral virtues taught by such philosophers and reformers as Aristotle, Plato, Confucius, Buddha, Christ, Mohammed, Martin Luther, John Calvin, Huldrych Zwingli (the Swiss reformer), David Wesleyan, and countless others inspire a worldwide morality founded in the traditions of many cultures and peoples. Following these virtues, the students, faculty, and staff of Pilares de Esperanza will
  • Be honest
  • Obey Costa Rican law and all campus policies
  • Use clean language
  • Respect self and others
  • Live a chaste and virtuous life
  • Abstain from alcoholic beverages, tobacco, tea, coffee and substance abuse
  • Observe Dress and Grooming Standards as established by the Administration
        and Student Council
  • Participate regularly in religious or philosophical study of choice
The following specific policies are embodied in the Honor Code and can also be found in the Employee and Student Manuals:
  • Academic Honesty
  • Dress and Grooming Standards as established by the Administration and Student
        Council
  • Residential Living Standards
  • Continuing Parental Endorsement

Pilares de Esperanza of Costa Rica exists to provide an education in an atmosphere consistent with ideals and principles of behavior that promise to lead to a successful future. The administration, faculty, students and staff at Pilares de Esperanza work together to create a safe environment where risk-taking means having the valor to stand for correct choices. This atmosphere is created and preserved through commitment to conduct that reflects those ideals and principles. Members of the faculty, administration, staff, and student body at Pilares de Esperanza are selected and retained from among individuals who voluntarily live the principles of the school. Observance of such is a specific condition of employment and admission. All individuals associated with the school--faculty, staff, and students alike are also expected to maintain the same standards of conduct. All who represent Pilares de Esperanza of Costa Rica are to maintain the highest standards of honor, integrity, morality, and consideration of others in personal behavior.
